The Ultimate Showdown: TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts

In the fast-paced digital realm of today, content creation has become a dominant force. The rise of short-form video content has been nothing short of explosive. In this article, we delve into a fascinating experiment where we posted the same 20 videos on three popular platforms: TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. The goal? To determine which platform offers the most rapid growth and audience engagement.

The Era of Short-Form Content

Back in 2017, the world witnessed the birth of an app that would soon conquer the internet and revolutionize the way we consume content – Musically. It later evolved into the TikTok we all know today. TikTok made an indelible mark, captivating dancing enthusiasts, entertaining the masses, and occasionally causing parents a headache or two. However, as TikTok soared, Instagram introduced its own challenger - Instagram Reels.

"Hey, TikTok, do you think you're the king of short-form videos?" Instagram seemed to say. "Well, we'll see about that." And not to be left behind, YouTube also decided to join the party, introducing YouTube Shorts. The battle for supremacy among these three giants has transformed into a digital hunger game, with algorithms eagerly searching for new and engaging content. This situation creates an unprecedented opportunity for newcomers to amass followers at an astonishing pace.

The Golden Opportunity for New Creators

The algorithms on these platforms actively seek fresh and engaging content, offering new creators a significant chance to go viral and achieve thousands of views overnight. This also opens doors for individuals looking to make money online with their videos. The current digital landscape presents a golden age for newcomers to enter the world of content creation and gain a massive following in record time.

The Power of AI in Content Creation

Before we dive into the results of our experiment, it's crucial to highlight a remarkable tool that facilitated the creation of our 20 videos – Fleeky. Fleeky boasts a powerful feature known as "Idea to Video." With this feature, you can simply describe in one sentence what you want your video to be about, and Fleeky will work its magic. It generates scripts, selects footage, adds voiceovers, includes subtitles, and even incorporates background music, creating incredible videos in a matter of seconds.

For the purpose of our experiment, we harnessed the capabilities of Fleeky to craft our 20 videos. You can find the link to this tool in the description of this article. If you desire a more comprehensive tutorial, we highly recommend checking out our previous video.

Unveiling the Content Creation Process

Let's take a brief look at how we crafted these videos using Fleeky. Upon logging in, you can access the "Idea to Video" feature. Here, you describe in a single sentence the theme of your video. It's important to note that the videos generated by Fleeky are based on stock footage, which is a notable limitation. However, within a few minutes, you can have videos covering a wide range of topics, from shocking facts about World War II to motivational speeches in the style of Tony Robbins.

The flexibility of Fleeky enables you to customize elements like subtitle font, color, and footage to align the video with your vision. This tool allows you to create diverse content with ease. For our 20 videos, we chose to craft informational fact-based content about animals, catering to a broad audience.

The Experiment: TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts

With our content ready, we embarked on a fascinating experiment. We created a new channel, Wild Wisdom, and designed a logo using Canva. Within two weeks, we posted our 20 videos on this brand new channel across three platforms: TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.

The Results Unveiled

TikTok

We commenced our journey on TikTok by posting the first video on July 4. Over the course of two weeks, we garnered a total of 3642 views across all 20 videos. This effort resulted in gaining five followers and 139 likes. The views on our videos remained consistent, with one exception being the second video, which received only one view.

YouTube Shorts

Turning our attention to YouTube Shorts, we posted the first video on the same date. Over the two-week period, we accumulated nearly 17,000 views, 33 subscribers, and a total of 500 likes. Impressively, our videos received a minimum of 46 views on a single video and reached over 2600 views on the most popular one.

Instagram Reels

Instagram Reels, however, presented a unique challenge. We posted the first video on July 4, and the results were startling – only one view for all 20 videos. Despite using hashtags and setting the profile to public, the engagement on Instagram Reels fell far below our expectations.

The Takeaway

This experiment shed light on the varying potential for growth and engagement on TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels. While TikTok showed promise with consistent views, YouTube Shorts emerged as the clear winner, amassing a significant number of views, subscribers, and likes within a short span.

However, Instagram Reels proved to be an unexpected challenge, with minimal visibility. It is evident that YouTube is currently favoring new creators and providing a unique opportunity for rapid growth. The time to seize this chance is now.
